water water everywhere.

The PhotoHunt theme this week is water. What a no-brainer for me. We've had just a little bit of it falling from the sky lately. Yesterday it was overcast, but luckily still nice and warm so Csilla and I played out on the deck for most of the day. I'm a little gun-sky about pulling out the inflatable pool just yet. We've only had one or two nice days this summer and I don't want to jinx it. Instead, I hauled out this old tub for her to play with. Of course, this mama always has ulterior motives. It was the perfect opportunity to practice more stop-action photography. Splashing and jumping was strongly encouraged. Csilla and Mama had lots of fun.

Csilla's favourite part of the day? Filling sponges with water, placing them on our deck chairs and then sitting on them so it looked like she was peeing. As the water fell through chairs to the deck below, she squealed with delight. Hilarity at it's best. Nothing like a good fake pee, eh?

And yes, I did take photos of the fake pee, but no, I will not be posting any photos of my naked kid today. Sorry friends and perverts alike.

Technical specs (click photo to enlarge) - Nikon D70, 50mm lens, SS 1/800, Ap f/5. I was pushing this shot to see how low I could set the shutter speed in order to get the highest aperture possible. I wanted the water as crisp and clear, but still frozen mid-air. This was the best I got. I think it would have been even better if the day had been a bit brighter. Next time...

Such a fun shot. I wish I didn't have such an automatic camera, but it is so easy to carry around. When I go out in our new to us sit-on kayak (Mr. Blue) I carry it in a plastic pouch around my neck so I don't miss a great shot.

For my contribution I chose pictures of water reflections from around my floating cabin on Powell Lake. I invite you to come see. - Margy

I love those stop-action shots, too. I need to learn more about my camera! I can take some great shots on my auto mode, though, and I am usually in a hurry! You did a goood job.

I have several shots for water today---come by and visit.
Have a great weekend!

Isn't this fun!!?

I know you just left me a comment but go back and have another look because I was adding some more pictures when you commented. If you want to try and capture water, all you need is a tap!

I love that shot! I love water shots in general, but that one was FUN!

You, my friend, are rocking that camera.

Yep, the younger you are the more funny fake pee is.

Love the capture. I was trying to catch something similar with waves today, didn't do so well.

Awesome action shot with all the water suspended in the air like that! Looks like someone had fun with water in the bucket.

Have a great weekend!

Okie-dokie. Totally love the shot.
And thanks for popping by. I fixed up the post and I think you can see the shots now. I think. Just in case you're interested.
Funnily enough I could always see the shots on my screen so I didn't know that they were gone. *sigh*

I'd be happy if I could get anykind of motion without blur with my Fuji FinePix. Sigh.

I used to be the first one to pipe in. Look at your fans Carolyn. Holy Moly. You have got photo crazy lovin fans. But we know why. That shot was awesome. I love the calves too. I could never get a shot like that one.

I love the tub too. Those are my very favorite. We fill them with ice and put our drinks in the summer in them.

Thanks for telling us exactly how you did it. It is so educational and it promotes motivation for all of us to give it a try.

Here's to sunny days ahead (as I am listening to the roar of thunder and watching lightning)

Take care. I will send you a picture of the idea that Missy wanted too. If it isn't to much of a bother. Oh my gosh, I think a storm is passing our way. Got to run and get the hoola hoops in..

That is a great shot. It's very cool that you can do that! Even better that you were both having such a good time.

P.S. Fake pee is funny at any age.

Great photo Carloyn! I'm excited to hear how you do all this. I can't even figure out the right setting for movement or lighting. I'll think I have it just right, but then the focus in too small so only one part of the pic is detailed and focused and the rest is blurry, etc. I just wish I could know what setting to put it on for the specific picture and have my vision of what I'm shooting come to life! Perhaps one day!

Brilliant shot! Love it - the water is crystal clear. I posted on water too (and went through the poem which cites "Water water everywhere") for my ABC Wednesday (W) on the Wed just gone.

The water I had is nowhere near as clear as that though. :(
